Vaucher Père et Fils

Beaujolais

The Beaujolais vineyard unfolds its countless hills on 55 km from South to North. Its leitmotif is "diversity" - both in the landscape with the crus in the northern area, the Beaujolais-Villages in the center and the Beaujolais mostly in the Southern area. These landscapes have in commun the gamay, a dark grape varietal with white juice. As to the wines, they prove to be surprisingly different as well, and full of sublety.

Origins

Chiroubles has the distinction of being the highest Cru , rising to a height of 450 metres. From the high balcony formed by its vineyards, you can look down on the vast plain of the Saône. As for most of the Beaujolais Crus, the wine has taken on the name of its village. To the taste, it is the lightest of the Beaujolais wines, but strongly marked by red berry flavours.

Vinification & ageing

Manual harvest of Gamay Noir with white juice. Vatting by gravity, in concrete tanks. Maceration in whole grapes for about ten days, including pumping over and delestage, before pressing, to extract the maximum structure and color. The wine is then aged on fine lees in vats.

#wrd_vin_millesime# : 2024

The 2024 vintage was certainly a challenging one. The warm and humid winter gave way to a gloomy spring, but the temperatures favored the early budburst. The start of summer was mixed with rain, sun and variable temperatures. The heat of August helped to sanitize the vines and the harvest started in the beginning of September. The vintage will be marked by a heterogeneous production requiring high technicity, but the quality is very satisfying.
